In 2024, Lagoon, the renowned catamaran brand, celebrated its 40th birthday in style. To mark this milestone, Lagoon invited catamaran owners from around the world to participate in the Lagoon World Escapade. This three-day event was a unique opportunity for Lagoon enthusiasts to come together, share their passion, and create unforgettable memories. The World Escapade was a massive success with 30 events held worldwide, involving over 400 Lagoon boats and 2400 Lagoon enthusiasts celebrating together. Key highlights included the largest anchored circle of 17 boats in the Philippines, the biggest Escapade in Turkey with 40 boats, and the most stunning Lagoon Dance images from Australia.

Friday: A Warm Welcome in Sanremo

The festivities began on Friday in Portosole, the famous harbor located in the city of Sanremo. As the catamarans arrived, participants were greeted with a welcome drink party at the Oceanis Yacht International office. Guests enjoyed the signature Lagoon drink alongside local delicacies such as Focaccia, Canestrelli, and Taggiasca olives. The relaxed atmosphere allowed participants to mingle, take photos with a stunning backdrop, and discuss the upcoming events with Oceanis Yacht International’s team. 

Saturday: Lagoon 40th Anniversary Rally West Coast Sailing

Saturday morning kicked off with a delightful breakfast on the Oceanis Yacht office terrace, ensuring everyone started the day on the right foot. At 10:00 am, the Lagoon 40th Anniversary Rally West Coast Sailing began, highlighting Lagoon and Oceanis Yacht’s commitment to sustainability by being a sailing-only event. Mahanga S/Y emerged as the winner, demonstrating both skill and eco-friendly sailing techniques.

Lunch

Around 2:00 pm, participants anchored their boats and were ferried ashore by tender to the renowned restaurant “La Spiaggetta Dei Balzi Rossi,” where they enjoyed a sumptuous seafood lunch featuring the freshest Ligurian cuisine.

Award Night Dinner with Entertainment

Post-lunch, guests returned to their boats and set sail for Marina di Cala del Forte in Ventimiglia. Upon docking, participantsdisembarked and enjoyed a lively “Aperitivo” with live music. The day’s final challenge, a competitive bowline knot-throwing contest, added a fun twist to the evening.

The celebrations continued at “Bistrò Baia del Forte,” for the award night dinner where the crews were awarded prizes. Veryta claimed the top spot, winning an eco-friendly electric scooter, a testament to Lagoon and Oceanis Yacht’s dedication to promoting sustainable living and green technology. However, all the participants were awarded with cool 40th Lagoon World Escpade-themed gadgets!.

Sunday: Sailing into New Horizons

As the event drew to a close on Sunday, participants shared a final breakfast and reminisced about the unforgettable experiences of the past two days. Friendships were forged, and a shared passion for Lagoon catamarans was celebrated in grand style.

The Lagoon World Escapade was more than just an event; it was a celebration of 40 years of innovation, community, and the spirit of sailing. Here’s to many more years of adventure and camaraderie on the open seas!
